Young Architect of the Year

Maura Trumble, AIA - CCY Partner

We are excited to announce CCY Partner, Maura Trumble, has been named the 2024 Young Architect of the Year by the American Institute of Architects of Colorado. Annually selected by a jury of AIA Colorado Board Members, this prestigious honor recognizes the individual achievements of an architect who has been practicing for fewer than 10 years, demonstrated exceptional leadership, and made significant contributions to their profession and community early in their career.

Voodoo Lounge Affordable Housing - Telluride, CO

In 2023, Maura became the first female Partner in CCY Architects’ history. Since joining the firm in 2012, Maura has been an integral design leader at CCY, providing progressive insights and leadership to some of the firm's most important projects and internal initiatives. Working across typologies—namely hospitality, affordable housing, and private residential—she has carved out a unique place within the firm as well as the industry for her progressive, forward-thinking approach to design.

“Maura is a natural leader. Working alongside her for twelve years, it has been incredible to see her professional evolution from a determined and hardworking designer into an essential voice for the firm. Maura brings people together, she finds creative solutions, and designs wonderful places that are a delight to be in. I can’t imagine a more deserving architect for this recognition.”

— John Cottle, FAIA | CCY Partner

Maura’s recent and ongoing work includes private residences, boutique hospitality and workforce housing projects in Telluride, Colorado, and master planning for a hospitality-based enclave near Los Angeles. A through line of her career has been community engagement, with many of her projects involving extensive public processes and consensus building.

In addition to her design leadership, Trumble is a critical member of the recruiting and sustainability initiatives in the office, continuing to advance equity in design and high-performance practices across project types. She has lent her design voice to Dwell, AD Pro (Architectural Digest), the Urban Land Institute, as well as Denver Design Week, Aspen Art Museum, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, and Telluride Arts. In 2019, she was profiled in Aspen Magazine’s “New Generation of Design,” spotlighting prominent young designers in Aspen.
