As part of our annual Volunteer Day, the CCY team had the privilege of joining Habitat for Humanity of the Roaring Fork Valley in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Together, we contributed to the construction of The Confluence, a six-unit affordable housing development that will provide local families with much-needed access to safe and stable homes. Habitat for Humanity has been working in the region for over 20 years, and it was an honor to support their mission of creating opportunities for lasting community impact.

RFV Habitat For Humanity: The Confluence, Glenwood Springs, Colorado
Located at Eighth Street and Midland Avenue, The Confluence targets households earning 80% of the area median income. The development marks Habitat for Humanity RFV’s first modular housing project, with the homes built using prefabricated boxes. Modular construction offers speed, efficiency, and quality control, helping Habitat deliver housing more quickly to those in need.
Affordable housing is one of the most pressing challenges facing our valley, where high costs often make it difficult for essential workers and families to live where they work. By picking up tools and lending our hands for the day, we were reminded of the power of collaboration in addressing this need.

“Working with community members reminded me how much we all care about making this valley stronger and more accessible”
CCY designer, Sydney Quinlan, spent the day helping to measure, cut, and install trim on door openings. “As a designer, I ‘know’ how things are built, but it’s very different to do it yourself,” she says. “It really makes you appreciate the hard physical work that contractors put in on a daily basis.”
The day also fostered connections that extend beyond the worksite. “Working alongside my CCY teammates outside the office was invaluable,” Quinlan added. “I got to know them on a new level. And working with community members reminded me how much we all care about making this valley stronger and more accessible.”
For CCY, Volunteer Day is about more than stepping away from our desks—it’s about strengthening the fabric of the community we design for every day. We are grateful to Habitat for Humanity for creating this platform that allows us to contribute in meaningful ways and to be part of a project that will positively impact Glenwood Springs for generations to come.
